About T.A.D. Coalition

The Thoracic Aortic Disease (TAD) Coalition is a group of organizations and individuals who share a common mission of preventing premature deaths due to thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection. With release of new Treatment Guidelines for Thoracic Aortic Disease released in March of 2010 from the American Heart Association (AHA), The American College of Cardiology (ACC), and other medical professional organizations, the Coalition is coordinating efforts to help promote the Guidelines to healthcare professionals and to raise public awareness of these aortic diseases and the associated risk factors.

The Coalition works collaboratively to achieve the following goals:
  • Increase public awareness of factors predisposing to thoracic aortic aneurysms and acute aortic dissections (genetic and environmental factors)
  • Provide educational materials concerning the symptoms, clinical evaluation and medical management of thoracic aortic disease
  • Improve the diagnosis and management of aortic aneurysms by physicians and acute aortic dissections in the emergency room setting

The TAD Coalition encourages meaningful research into the causes and treatment of thoracic aortic aneurysm and dissection, especially the genetic factors that can increase a person’s risk.
